the worlds view<\/p>\n

their mug shots are a center piece portrait<\/p>\n

\u2014with most rappers thinking\u2014<\/p>\n

the snitch framed them<\/p>\n

reading exclusive interviews some writers have<\/p>\n

created a moral panic on their client\u2019s profiled<\/p>\n

in magazines asking:<\/p>\n

\u00a0are rappers the target?<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 is the justice system fair?<\/em><\/p>\n

behind bars they tell their pathetic stories of<\/p>\n

bad habits: sex, drugs\u2014violence<\/p>\n

glorified on record<\/p>\n

magazines post<\/p>\n

nineteen faces in the trenches<\/p>\n

awaiting trial to be punished not by their peers<\/p>\n

but twelve evaluators<\/p>\n

a jury<\/p>\n

& the rap artist get sentenced according<\/p>\n

to their crimes:<\/p>\n

holding firearms, robberies,\u00a0 murders, rapes, perjury<\/p>\n

5 yrs\u20148 yrs\u2014& lives are accumulated<\/p>\n

now these enslaved patrons of hip-hop\u2014leave slogans<\/p>\n

to market their release \u201cget free or die trying<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

there\u2019s some confusion here<\/p>\n

the jail system shouldn\u2019t be a boost<\/p>\n

for the label to sell more records<\/p>\n

and the beat goes on\u2026 the beat goes on<\/p>\n

radio in heavy rotation rapper get crazy spins<\/p>\n

in the urban markets<\/p>\n

promoting beefs and misogyny\u2014their vocals rain supreme<\/p>\n

as many-many words come across teenage equilibrium<\/p>\n

in song format that djs scratch derogatory terms back<\/p>\n

and forth<\/p>\n

that even a five year old can retain songs<\/p>\n

like \u201cI\u2019m Locked Up<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n

kids understand it more<\/p>\n

especially when their brothers in detention &<\/p>\n

father\u2019s serving eight years for domestic violence &<\/p>\n

distrubution of powder white<\/p>\n

operation lockdown is in effect<\/p>\n

with female rappers\u2014too<\/p>\n

are almost identical with their cell space<\/p>\n

the monkey bars are holding their words<\/p>\n

they\u2019re punished for selling sex\u2014lies<\/p>\n

in court<\/p>\n

then\u2014they\u2019ll get a little conscience<\/p>\n

& see their adversary for who they really are:<\/p>\n

corporate industry designed to profit<\/p>\n

& incarcerate all Black and brown \u2026<\/p>\n

do not quote me<\/p>\n

see Ms. Barnes piece \u201coff the cuff<\/em>\u201d & read the depressing media hype<\/p>\n

with some of hip-hop most celebrated<\/p>\n

going to places where Larry Pinkney & Huey P. Newton have been<\/p>\n

for real causes\u2014the people\u2019s struggle & not for the non-sense<\/p>\n

of seven shots in crowded parties or aggravated assault<\/p>\n

rappers now sit miles away<\/p>\n

isolated from fans<\/p>\n

platinum records<\/p>\n

& iced out jewelry<\/p>\n

that could\u2019ve saved residence of New Orleans<\/p>\n

SUFFERING\u00a0without revenue or a place to stay<\/em><\/p>\n

these are members of Hip Hop images captured & stilled for<\/p>\n

the world\u2019s view<\/p>\n

their mug shots are a center piece portrait<\/p>\n
